An Evening of Courageous Conversation About Midlife+ Bodies and Belonging

What if aging wasn’t something to fight,
but something to claim?

Join dietitian, author, and speaker Deb Benfield for an evening rooted in truth-telling, story, and community. In a culture obsessed with fixing women’s bodies—especially in midlife and beyond—Unapologetic Aging offers a powerful alternative: body respect, vitality, and freedom from diet culture and ageism.

This book talk will explore:

  • Why midlife and beyond often intensifies body shame—and how to interrupt that cycle

  • The hidden link between anti-aging messaging and diet culture

  • How reconnecting with your body restores energy, clarity, and agency

  • Why resisting body hierarchy is both personal and political

  • Practical ways to cultivate vitality without chasing weight loss or “optimization”

You’ll leave with language, tools, and renewed courage to inhabit your life fully—right now.

About the Book

Unapologetic Aging is a bold invitation to untangle from diet culture and ageism and to rebuild trust with your body in midlife and beyond.

Through storytelling, research, and compassionate guidance, Deb reframes what “healthy aging” can mean—centering embodiment, joy, nervous system care, and body liberation instead of shame and control.

This is not a book about giving up on health.
It’s a book about expanding what health means.

Meet Deb

As a 67-year-old woman, I know the pressures you experience about your body and appearance. In my 40-year career as a registered dietitian, nutrition therapist, and body image coach specializing in preventing and treating disordered eating, I have helped hundreds of women heal their relationship with food, eating, and their bodies. I bring my wisdom, passion, and lived experience to the intersection of ageism and body liberation. My work is trauma-informed and rooted in a commitment to help you mend your relationship with your body.

You are the expert on your own body. I will help you reclaim that truth if you lost it along the way. I bring my compassionate presence along with my fierce invitation to divest from the body hierarchy of ageism and diet/wellness culture.

I’m thrilled to share this with you!
